"3S campaign"

Every time we renew driver's license, we receive a booklet for thorough understanding of road safety.

What kind of information is written in this booklet? When you turn the cover page, you will see the introduction of a road safety campaign.

"3S" means, 3 first letter of "Stop", "Slow", "Smart".

About "Stop", 3 things are listed: (1)Stop at red lights and stop signs. (2)Priority of pedestrians at crosswalks and street intersections. (3)Stamp out "drink and drive".

About "Slow", 2 things are listed: (1)Go slowly at poor view intersections. (2)Slow down if you see children and elderly people.

About "Smart", 2 things are listed: (1)Wear seat-belts in all seats. (2)Drive smartly with consideration to all people.

Overview of current road traffic situations

Next page is a variety of figures and graphs. We will pick up several.

(1) 80 percent of motor vehicles are automobiles and 20 percent are others.

(2) Driver's license holders aged 65 and over are increasing.

(3) Typical deadly accidents are as following 4 types; accidents while crossing roads, single vehicle crashes, upon sudden meetings, by head-on encounter.

A little something extra

You should also pay a penalty if you commit a traffic infraction while riding a bicycle. For instance, when you ride a bicycle, using a cell phone and putting on ear phones is not allowed, so if you do these infraction you should pay a fine.

And at the same time, there is an explanation about organ donation in the next page. There are long explanations, but the core is when you die by traffic accident you are suggested to donate your organs which are in normal condition. And before you die, indicate your intention on your driver's license card. There is no information how many people agreed before you agree it.

Enjoy safety drive!
